1985 Chevy – 1

1985 Chevy C-10, Red & Tan, Original Paint

THE RIDE: Things I have done with it so far are new bumpers, custom grill with Chevy insert, lowered both back and front, custom wheels (several times), custom hand-made exhaust, 6.2L fuel-injected small block Chevy motor, LED underglow, interior ,engine compartment and bed, digital dashboard, 2 electrical systems, 4 batteries, 2 custom stereo systems.
Plans for the future include interior modifications, additional stereo equipment and paint and body work.

THE STORY: I have been customizing something for as long as I can remember. First real memory was my mother’s car stereo when I was about 12 after already spending many years helping my uncle with all kinds of vehicle projects. It just grew from there when I got my first car, a 1969 Chevy Camaro, when I was 16. There were lots of trips to the junk yard and many hours spent looking for buried treasure to make this vehicle my own.

While in the military, and then afterwards while living in Europe, I got involved with the VW/Audi clubs and did a lot of show cars and custom stereos. When I moved home I was always on the look out for that special project vehicle. Thought I found it and had a couple of trucks with “good bones”, but then when this truck was suggested, my wife and I went to see it. She was a square-body fan and was hooked. I wasn’t too sure. Took the leap and have never looked back.
Some things started as just “tweaking”, but then took on a life of their own. Engine needed some serious work – all original, then the interior stereo and then I had an idea! LOL The brainstorming for the bed stereo started to come to life. With a lot of support from family and friends and tremendous amounts of sweat equity, it has become all I had imagined . . . and more
